#2# [ADD NEW LEVEL] [LEVEL PROPERTIES]

levels.

{FILES LIST BOX}
In {add new level} phase you should copy in list box all file about this new
level.

Usually you\'ll add the zip file downloaded from internet with all level
files.

{Refresh}
This button allows you to refresh list files.
This is useful in this situation:
- You add level files with [Add from file] or [Add from folder] button
- Level Manager detect a setup.exe file and ask you if all files have been
added.
- If you answer YES, it will start installation but if you anser NO (because
you was not sure) installation will be suspend.
- In this case you can restart scanning of file and auto-start mode,
pressing [Refresh] button.

{Remove file}
When you are adding new level, this command remove file only from list box

Differently, when you are watching [poperties level] if you remove a file
this will be removed from level files of current level.

#3# {Compile TOM files and create TR4 files}
This button will be visible only if in list box there are .tom files.
When you press this button Level Manager start conversion process.
If in preference you have checked item {disable auto-compile for tom files},
level manager show a window to explain how handle tom2pc.exe program and
then you could start it and execute manually tom conversion.
If in preference you have UNchecked {disable auto-compile for tom files}
box, when you press {compile tom ...} button, Level Manager will handle
automatically tom file conversion.

When you press this button, you could receive alert as:

----
Warning: missing source file \'angkor.was\'
Do you want continue?
----

This means that new level needs of source files missing on your pc.
You can try to convert tom file but probably tom conversion will fail.
In this case you should download from internet missing source files and then
import them using menu command: {Tools->Import New/Updated wads}

Note: If new level contains trlmanager.cfg file (configuration file), Level
Manager can atuomatically download missing source file and import them.

{Set my language}

This button will be visible only if your Tomb Raider Level Editor is in a
language different by english (default language) and if in current it\'s
possible set your language.

IMPORTANT WARNING: it\'s dangerous to change level language while Tomb Raider
program is running.
If current level in Tomb Raider is the same level that you are changing
language, there will be a system crash for violation of condivision.

[Level->Set my language in current level]

When you use a foreign version of Level Editor (french, german ect.) you can
try to set in current level your language.
In this way you\'ll have all text in your language when you\'ll play this
level.

In some cases you could have trouble playing a level where you have forced
use of your language.
If this happens, you could restore level with menu command: {Level->Restore
original language for current level}
Normally when you force your language in a custom level, some text as level
name, side\'s names could change respect to original level thought by author.
It is a choice of yours, to decide if to accept these little changes or not.

IMPORTANT WARNING: it\'s dangerous to change level language while Tomb Raider
program is running.
If current level in Tomb Raider is the same level that you are changing
language, there will be a system crash for violation of condivision.

{Level->Restore original language for current level}

You can use this command to restore original language (english pratically)
in current level.
This command is enabled only if current level was been converted in your
language.

IMPORTANT WARNING: it\'s dangerous to change level language while Tomb Raider
program is running.
If current level in Tomb Raider is the same level that you are changing
language, there will be a system crash for violation of condivision.

{File as \"More info\"}

You can select a file as \"more info\" file for current level.
This file will be opened when you\'ll press [More info] button in main window
of Level Manager.
Normally you\'ll select a readme.txt file or (better imho) a walkthrough file
for current level.
File \"More Info\" could be not only text file but also a .doc, .html or .exe
file as readme.exe (sometimes you\'ll find also these kind of file)

{Level Name}

Max length for level name is 256 characters, however only first 50/60
characters will be really visible in main window.

{Single row note}

In this field you can insert a short comment for level.
This comment will be showed immediatly below level name in main window.
Usually, you\'ll insert in this row, comments like:
\"Select \'Seth tomb\' to play\"
\"Don\'t kill Von Croy in first sequence\"

I.e. short comments about how play this level.

Similary at {Level name} this field could use 256 character, however only
first 80 / 90 character will be visible.

[Recover archive from HD folder]

If you have lost or damaged archive.trl but You have all its files in main
folder you could recover archive but then you\'ll have insert manually infos
about: Level name and {more info} file, using command
{Menu->Level->Properties of current level}

#5# [Archive Properties]

This window allow to read and change property of current archive.

{Main (only read) archive folder} and
{Secondary  (writable) archive folder}

Main archive folder is folder where are saved \"FILES\" subfolders.
Every level has an own folder. Each level folder has following subfolders:

Name      Description
------------------------------------------------------
FILES     Contains only read file as : .tr4, .wav, load.bmp, .dat
         These are main files necessary to play a level

SCREENSHOTS
If you have enabled {screenshot capture}, image files
       will be saved in this folder.
Screen-shots in this folder will be showed in main
window when current level is selected.
BACKUP_SAVEGAMES
This folder is used to save savegame of this level,
when user start playing a new (different) level.
Level Manager will copy savegame da Tomb Raider
Level Editor folder to BACKUP_SAVEGAMES
SAVEGAMES
In this folder will be stored the OLD savegames, i.e. savegame
currently not more present in tomb raider folder.

Distinction between {main folder} and {secondary folder} is meaningful only
if current archive is also on CD, otherwise {main folder} e {secondary
folder} will be the same.
However for {main dir} we intend folder where there are all \"FILES\"
subfolders.
{Secondary folder} is folder where there are all \"SCREENSHOTS\",
\"BACKUP_SAVEGAMES\" and \"SAVEGAMES\" sub-folders.

Difference between main and secondary folder is that files of main folder
are only-read and could be saved on CD, while files of secondary folders
should remain on HD because they could be changed playing the levels.

Teorically you could change these folders (main and secondary) clicking on
{Browse} button.
Really is very seldom that you shall do it.
If in your pc are changed unit letters and now archive folders have
different unit letters you can change it to restore correct path.

{Folder Size}

In this field will be showed size used by current archive.
Description of archive size shows distinct size of main and secondary
folders and their sum.
Example:
The archive size:
180 MB + 3 MB = 183 MB

means:
Main folder (i.e. files locate in \"FILES\" subfolders) use 180 MB
Secondary folder (i.e. files locate in other subfolders) use 3 MB.
Total space used by archive is 183 MB.

This format is useful to know how much space wu could free, moving current
archive on cd.
When you move archive on CD all {main folder} data will be written on cd and
on hd you\'ll have only {secondary folder}.
In above example, moving archive on cd you free 180 MB by your local (HD)
disk.

{ON CD}
This field shows if archive is also on cd.
Note: it\'s sufficent that exists also a single level on cd to enable \"YES\"
in this field.

{SIZE ON CD} and
{SIZE ON HD}

These field show how much space is used on CD and HD currently.
Remember that an archive could have some levels on cd and other on hd.
Normally you\'ll move archive on cd (i.e. only last new archived levels) when
{size on Hd} will become a very big number.

To know exact amount of new free space that you can get moving current
archive on cd, you have perform following operation: {main folder size}  -
{Size on CD}
Result will be size you can free moving (now) archive on cd.

{Compression setting}

Level files could be compressed and decompressed to reduct used space.
There are three kind of compression:

1) To compress file in .zl
This is very fast compression but really it has not too good performance
2) Convert load.bmp in load.jpg
3) Convert wav files in mp3 files.
This compression is very good but it\'s also very slow.

Really I tip to use wav to mp3 compression only to prepare level files to
download/upload.
When you have on your HD level files is better let them uncompressed and
free space on hd moving, often, archive on cd to free hd space.

#7# [IMPORT NEW WADS: SET NAME FOR NEW LEVEL]

When you import wads whereby menu command {Import->New/Updated wads} your
original trle configuration will change.
Oten, you\'ll have new levels as, for example \"angkor wat\" or \"guardian of
semerkhet\".
If you use english trle, old name and new name should be the same, but if
you have another language, old name will be in english and you could wish to
rename it in your language.
You\'ll see new level name when, using original trle configuration, you\'ll
select {New game}.
In level list you\'ll might see new level name.

#4# [SETTINGS]

{TR Level Editor Path}

This field show current Tomb Raider Level Editor folder, used by Level
Manager to play and swap levels.
Teorically you could have two or more Level Editor Folder, in this case you
should select folder in \"standard\" folder \"c:\\program files\\Core
Design\\trle\" because when Level Editor will convert .tom in .tr4 files could
be troubles if trle folder is different by above standard folder.

{Defaul donwload folder}

You can set in this field your local folder where usually save downloaded
level files.
Level manager when you click on {Add file} in {Add new level} window,
browses initially this folder.

{Tom2Pc.exe name} and
{tomb.exe name}

Normally you don\'t must change these values.

{Full backup}

This only read field, remembers you if you\'ve chosen \"compact\" o \"full\"
backup in installation phase.
Full backup contains all tomb Raider Level Editor files.
Compact backup contains files of: main (\"trle\") folder, \"data\" and
\"graphics/wads\" folders.
Compact backup don\'t recover wav files changed (overwritten) by previous
custom levels.

{Screen-shot capture}

You can enable {screen-shot capture} whereby Tr Level Manager.
When screen-shot caputure is enabled, if you, playing, press {Print screen}
key, level manager capture screen image.

Screen-shots captured will be saved in \"SCREENSHOTS\" subfolder of current
level and will be showed in level manager main window when this level is
selected.

{Prompt me or not}

About screenshot caputre you can choose if Level Manager will prompt you to
choose name for new screen-shot or not.
If you check {Don\'t prompt me} Level Manager will save captured screen-shots
in transparent mode, without any game breaks.
In this case Level Manager will assign a progressive name for new
screen-shot formatted as {Progressive number} + \"Level name\"
For example if you are playing level: \"The last Crusade\", your screen-shots
will named as :
\"1) The last crusade.jpg\", \"2) The last crusade.jpg\" and so on.
You will can see these captured images clicking on [Screenshot] button and
screenshot panel shows the captured images.

{Graphical program}

You can set your prefered graphical program to use for modify images
(screenshots)

{Verify and ignore captured images full blank}

If you enable this option, when you hit [Print Screen] key, while you\'re
playing, the captured image will be examined to verifiy it will be not
\"empty\" image, i.e. a full black image.
If image is blank it will be ignored and you don\'t hear the \"beep\" form PC
speaker.

{Advanced Settings}

{Disable auto-compile for tom files}

Checking this option, Level Manager will not convert tom file automatically
but it will start tom2pc.exe program and you\'ll have add tom files and
handle conversion process.
See also: {Compile TOM files and create TR4 files}

{Create log files (for debugging)}

Enabling this otpion, Level Manger will write in its application folder a
text file named \"LevelLog_NNN.txt\"
In this file there is the log of level swapping operations.
Normally this option is not useful for end users.

{Auto save (save archive after every change)}

When this option is enabled, Level Manger will save current archive (.trl
file) after every changes.

{Check for equal levels in \"add level\" phase}

This option enable automatic checking for equal levels when you press {Done}
button in {add new level} window.
If you disable this option, you could check equal levels manually,
performing menu command: {Tools->Archive maintenance->Check for equal levels
in archive}

{Don\'t decompress to show level properties}

When some levels are compressed (.zl or .mp3) and you select command menu
{Levels->Properties of current level}, Level Manager show you data of
current level, enclosed its files.
If these files are compressed, level manager will decompress this file
before showing to you.
This is slow and not useful, so it\'s better enable this option.

{Automatic request for update online database}

If this option is enabled, level manager will try to update online database
(with web site and configuration files to install levels) every 30 days.
It\'s advisable let enabled this option because whereby update you can get
new automatic instructions to install difficultous custom levels and also
kwow where there are new versions of level manager

{Interval time to check pressing keys and screenshot capture}

This value describe the elapsed time between a check and following of level
manager while you are playing with Tomb Raider.
If you insert a short time, level manager will be more fast to execute some
commands like screenshot capture or recording old savegames but tomb raider
could became more slow.
If you insert a long time, level manager will be more slow to execute those
commands but tomb raider will be more fast.

If you have not problems playing tomb raider is better not change default
value (5/10 seconds)

{Savegame settings}

{When tomb raider slots are full move and archive automatically ...}

If this option is enabled, while you are playing level manager will check
how much savegame are in tr slots and if all slots are full, level manager
move the specificied number of savegame (the oldest) to free tr slots.

It\'s advisable let enabled this option, in this way you never have need to
overwrite old savegame, because there will be always some empty slots.

{Associate savegame with screenshot if difference between their date is This field allows you to set the minimum acceptable time difference between
savegame and screenshot to be linked togheter.
If you specify a time very high, almost all savegame will show an image but
many savegames will have same image.
Differently, if you specify a value very short, many savegame will have not
any image, but when you select a savegame (probably) that image will be
associated only with that specific savegame.
If you speciy 0 (zero) only screenshot linked manually clicking on button
with lara\'s image will be linked with a savegame.

{Use also JoyStick to command Level Manager}

If you enable this option  you\'ll can use joystick to give commands to level
manager.
Read section [#33#] to have more informations about joystick, use and setup.
