If there\'s one character in gaming who has seriously fallen from grace, it\'s undoubtedly Lara Croft. After her glory days on the original Playstation, Lara has been the star of many bad games bearing her namesake. Fortunately for Lara, it would seem that the switch to Edios\' star development team, Crystal Dynamics, her next outing which was here on display at E3 2005, Tomb Raider: Legend will be a full return to form.

To begin, Legend will feature a storyline completely new and separate from the past Tomb Raider titles. The game will be an entirely new chapter in a brand new saga of Tomb Raider. Secondly, the moment the development rights were places into Crystal Dynamics\' hands, they scrapped everything, and instituted brand new graphics, a new camera system, new controls, you get the idea. The long despised grid-based controls of the previous titles are now gone in favor of a smoother control scheme. Lara\'s got an improved character model for Legend as well, sporting more total polygons, more realistic proportions, and more detail in her face. Every inch of terrain in the game is covered in fantastic textures, a Crystal Dynamics calling card. The game has a very natural feel to it, and there will be very few straight edges, unless it makes sense (steps to a temple versus a slab of rock, for example.), along with a complete absence of \'perfect\' ledges.

A brand new physics engine (are you getting the whole \'new\' thing?) is present as well and play a large role in the game. In one instance, the demonstrator dropped a grenade and then proceeded to have Lara grab a rope. When the explosive detonated, the blast knocked Lara off of the rope, and the force that hit her body, along with the momentum that carried the heroine looked frightfully convincing. In fact, the physics engine will be the center of most of the puzzles found in the game. In one example, Lara entered a cavern with a large water wheel that wasn\'t moving. Had the device been turning, then a set of poles jetting out from it would allow her to reach a new area. After knocking a pillar onto one of the lower poles, the wheel began to rotate, sending the poles on the other side into perfect positioning, allowing Lara to reach them and advance to the next area.

Legend looks like it has a lot in common with another great gaming franchise that has recently seen quite a bit of action: Prince of Persia. The exploration and platforming found is similar to the original, that in players will need to find their destination and perform a series of interconnected jumps between various points in order to reach the spot. The environments found in Legend are also enormous, surpassing those found in both Sands of Time and Warrior Within

Other gameplay mechanics have been implemented as well. The \'leveling up\' system from past games has been scrapped. Lara is fully able to reach any spot the players is creative enough to get her. New artifcial intelligence will lend a hand to Lara as well. For example, should she jump and fall short of her goal, she\'ll automatically reach out and grab the surface she was attempting to get a hold of. Lara can also climb and swing on ropes (which are in line with that new physics engine), as well as use a magnetic grappling hook to pull herself up to new locales or pull objects back to her (again, the physics engine at work.).

While the past few years have been rather infamous for Ms. Croft, the future is looking bright, and we can\'t wait to see how Tomb Raider: Legend turns out after our time with it at E3 this year. Xbox Advanced will have more details as soon as they become present.

因为大家对Lara的腿力习以为常了,而trl里最突出的是臂力强了许多。
